What is Cetina River Rafting?

Cetina River rafting is a guided whitewater adventure through 10 km of dramatic limestone gorge in Dalmatia, Croatia. Participants paddle a mix of calm stretches and lively rapids on the Cetina River, passing sheer canyon walls, lush riverside vegetation, and natural swimming spots — all within 30 minutes of Split.

1

Into the Canyon

Your adventure begins at Radmanove Mlinice, where your licensed guide runs a full safety briefing. You then paddle into the first section of the gorge — limestone cliffs towering overhead, the river gin-clear beneath you.

2

Rapids & Calm Stretches

The Cetina alternates between gentle drifts through canyon flora and exciting Class II–III rapids. First-timers find the pace welcoming; experienced rafters appreciate the scenery and the challenges further along.

3

Swimming Stop & Canyon Views

Midway through the route, the river widens into a tranquil natural pool — perfect for jumping in and cooling off surrounded by ancient canyon walls. One of the most photographed spots on the Dalmatian coast.

4

Finish & Return Transfer

The tour ends at the lower river exit. A return transfer for drivers is included — your car is already waiting at the start. No logistics headache, just a great memory.

Rafting on the Cetina River — FAQ

Everything you need to know before you book. Answers are matched to the questions travellers actually ask.

No experience is needed. The Cetina River is designed to be accessible to complete beginners while still engaging for experienced rafters. Your licensed guide provides a full safety briefing covering paddling technique and safety procedures before you enter the water. The route mixes gentle stretches with manageable rapids, making it one of the most family-friendly rafting experiences in Croatia.
Children aged 6 and older can participate. Every participant wears a correctly fitted helmet and lifejacket. Parents are always in the same raft as their children. The Cetina River rafting tour is consistently praised in guest reviews as an excellent family activity in the Split–Omiš area.
The 38€ per-person price covers: the raft, paddle, helmet, lifejacket, and dry barrel; a certified rafting guide for the full 10 km route; activity insurance; free parking at Radmanove Mlinice; and a local transfer from the endpoint back to the starting location for those who drove. The only extra cost is an optional transfer from Split/Trogir/Makarska (from 25€/person).
The rafting route covers 10 km and takes 2 to 3 hours on the water, including the swimming break. Including the safety briefing at the start and the return transfer at the end, allow approximately 3 to 4 hours in total.
Yes. There is an afternoon departure specifically designed for visitors based in Split. The meeting point is Split city centre at 12:30, with a return by 18:00. A van transfer is available from Split, Trogir, and Makarska from 25€ per person. Book this at the same time as your rafting spot.
The Cetina River rafting season runs April through October. June to September offers the warmest water temperatures — ideal for the swimming break. April–May and September–October offer fewer crowds, cooler air, and equally spectacular canyon scenery. The river maintains good flow throughout the season.
If the tour is cancelled due to bad weather or insufficient group numbers, you will receive either an alternative date at no extra cost or a full refund — your choice. We will notify you as early as possible. We also reserve the right to cancel after confirmation if minimum passenger numbers are not met, in which case the same full refund policy applies.
Cetina River rafting is done in an inflatable raft with a paddle — no swimming or climbing required. It is the most accessible activity for families and non-swimmers. Canyoning involves abseiling down waterfalls and swimming through gorges — a more physically demanding experience. Both take place on the Cetina River canyon system. Many guests combine both activities across different days.
